Atelier SF X Meraki

Shared workroom

It´s late spring 2019, I´ve decided to work less and change the direction of my life. Beginning with expressing the potential of the projects I have invested in over many years. One of the things I want to try is illustraton, watercolour for instance. Luckily for me, I have an awesome friend who knows how to paint. Over the course of several months I visit Stephanie Frents´ atelier in Asker and she teaches me about the materials used in watercolour painting and helps me mix my own set of paint. This process is, of course, a lot of fun and we spend a lot of time together.

Fall comes around and it´s a turbulent time for me in the job department. When things finally settle down and I have a clearer view of the horizon, I have a suggestion for Steph. How about we share a studio together? I´m very happy when she agrees that this is an excellent idea.

The next three months we spend transforming my apartment, from a sparsely furnished living room into a workspace with tons of possibilities for project work and opportunities for collaborations and visitors. For me this is a dream coming true, this place no longer looks like a living room but a functional studio. It represents not only a physical transformation but a change of lifestyle, completing a part of the journey I began well over 10 years ago.

Sunday 01.March 2020 we celebrate the hard work we have put in with a selection of people we know appreciate the occasion. This is also my first experience of curating an exhibition of my projects. Not bad for a science geek!

Thank you, Steph!
